Budweiser, an iconic American beer, could be making some significant changes to its beer labels this summer. In anticipation of the upcoming presidential election, Anheuser-Busch InBev is looking to replace “Budweiser” with “America.”

According to AdvertisingAge, Budweiser has sought approval to add the phrases “E Pluribus Unum,” “From the redwood forest to the Gulf stream waters this land was made for you and me,” and “Indivisible since 1776” to the labels, as well. The beer manufacturer reportedly received approval for the change from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.

This patriotic marketing initiative would not result in a permanent change, as the beer labels would eventually revert back to their original design. The labels could also capitalize on this year’s Olympic games.

The new labels fit into the trend of customization and re-branding. As the weather warms and more people head to the beach for vacations, Budweiser is looking to capture attention on the shelf. These types of changes also result in increased work for converters.

Budweiser was originally brewed in St. Louis, MO during America’s centennial year, and it currently ranks as the country’s top-selling beer. According to the Miami Herald, nearly a third of all beer sales occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with sales peaking around the Fourth of July.
